Wrights open Barrels and Nuts on Sixth Street

COSHOCTON − A laidback, neighborhood atmosphere is what the owners of the new Barrels and Nuts are going for.

Lisa and Matt Wright, who formerly operated the Wills Creek Grub and Pub, opened the restaurant and bar at 1330 S. Sixth Street a few weeks ago. They run the place with help from family. T Nut M8

"We had an idea in our heads and just needed to find the right building," Lisa said of opening Barrels and Nuts. "This opportunity came along."

It has American pub type food, such as steaks, burgers and wings, and is also open for breakfast. Weekly specials include ribs, meatloaf and pulled pork sandwiches.

Lisa said they're grateful for public backing, which has been strong so far.

"The community has supported us very well. I appreciate everything they've done with us," she said. "We couldn't ask for better support from the community."

Lisa said the name wasn't hard to come up with. They have complimentary peanuts for patrons and the tables are made from wooden whiskey barrels. They're looking to add a back patio in the spring.

"We just want to be a down-to-earth, cozy place," she said.

Barrels and Nuts can be reached through its Facebook page, called at 740-575-4067 or emailed at barrelsandnuts@gmail.com. It's open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday. Lisa said hours might continue to fluctuate as they get a gauge for people coming in.
