"Initially, we found carbon dioxide and nitrogen cylinders in the Sitakunda oxygen plant. We originally suspected that the explosion was caused by the oxygen plant's gas separation column. But it requires additional investigation, which we have already begun," Assistant District Magistrate Rakib Hasan said. 

“We are working on the general concerns and aim to complete the investigation within an appropriate time frame,” he added.

He further said: 'We have the first meeting of the probe committee at 12pm. We are gathering whatever resources are required for the investigation.”

When asked why nitrogen cylinders were found in the plant as it solely produces oxygen, Md Mamun, the factory's managing director said: "We do not produce nitrogen. We take only oxygen from the air by purifying it, leaving nitrogen and carbon dioxide behind.”
