“Ideas shape the course of history.”

“Sunday’s Kitchen” will be Sunday, Feb. 26 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church Gym, 609 E. Main. This is a free meal for the community on the last Sunday of each month. Dine-in only. For more information, call the church office at (903) 984-3963.

Local sports writer Jack Stallard is preparing to kick off Big Daddy’s 5th Annual Birthday Walk to benefit the Kilgore College Food Pantry.

This year’s walk is set for Saturday, March 4 at Synergy Park in Kilgore. There will be several large, plastic crates at the Amanda S. Nobles Pavillion, and Stallard is hoping to fill a few of them to donate to the college pantry.

Weather-permitting, the event will be from 7 to 11 a.m. Here’s a list of the most needed items: fruit and cereal bars; soup, macaroni and ravioli cups; ramen noodles; pop tarts; cups of noodles; chili; peanut butter; jelly; ritz crackers; vanilla wafers; canned fruit; crackers; dinty moore beef stew; oatmeal (boxes and cups); cereal; tuna/canned chicken; jello/pudding cups; cheese/peanut butter crackers; and men’s and women’s socks.

Remember art lovers, you can soon celebrate the return of Kilgore ArtWalk after a yearlong hiatus.

Scheduled for Saturday, March 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Kilgore, this event is free to the public, and there is no setup fee for participants. Artists will be set up along E. Main, Rusk and Kilgore Streets, as well as inside participating downtown businesses. Spend the evening supporting local creators, downtown merchants and local cuisine. There will be live music and art activities for kids provided by downtown merchants, local organizations and East Texas businesses.

Kilgore College Career Services will host three career expos soon for KC students and KC alumni.

The expos include a Technical Career Expo, a Health Sciences Career Expo and an Accounting, Business and Computer Information Technology Expo.
