MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb 21, 2023--

Orion180, a premier insurance solutions provider founded in 2016 to enhance the way agents and consumers purchase and manage homeowners insurance, has officially transitioned from managing general underwriter (MGU) to standalone carrier by launching Orion180 Insurance Co. This strategic shift signifies Orion180 executing on its long-term strategy of becoming an independent insurance company enabling its sustained growth trajectory and increased control of the customer experience.

The new company is an affiliate of Orion180 Insurance Services LLC, which as an MGU has produced approximately $150 million in written premium in under five years and serves more than 80,000 policyholders in six states throughout the Southeast.

The new Indiana-domiciled company, Orion180 Insurance Co., began writing non-admitted homeowners insurance in coastal areas of Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina in December 2022. The surplus lines company also has state approval pending in North Carolina.

Later this year, Orion180 plans on expanding its existing six-state footprint to offer their catalog of premier insurance solutions in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.

“Orion180 has built a brand known for providing cutting-edge technology, outstanding customer experience and a culture of innovation. Our goal is making it as easy as possible for customers and their agents to do business with Orion180 while offering competitive pricing and coverage,” says Kenneth Gregg, CEO and Founder of Orion180. “To guarantee the sustainability, continued growth of our organization, and to better control the customer experience, it was imperative for the organization to evolve to an independent carrier,” Gregg adds.

“Now, we have our sights set on our next goal, the introduction of an additional admitted insurance carrier to service inland homeowners,” says Gregg. “We have started the regulatory approval process with several states.”

Orion180 aims to continue its expansion geographically with additional lines of business beginning in 2023.
